Gel worked closely with the client and consultants to create an integrated community of 36 houses. Optimal sun hours for each house was a key element of this project, as well as a level threshold road and pavement system creating a shared space and pedestrian friendly environment ensuring a sense of ownership by all residents.
There is a careful and deliberate distribution of typologies and materials ensuring variation in height, form, design and material creating a high level of visual interest throughout the site.
An architecturally strong street frontage was an important requirement of the brief. Gel addressed this with a series of jagged roofed and staggered terraced housing.
The housing typologies provide choice from small stand-alone starters to large courtyard family homes.This provides for varying households such as adult children or a parent in a separate downstairs bedroom.
